Blackadder Goes Forth
The idea of going to this show could have been one of Baldrick’s cunning plans. But unlike Baldrick’s plans which make no sense and have nothing to recommend them the evening entertainment was top notch old boy and certainly one of The Gaslight’s better productions.
All of the actors were extremely well cast with Blackadder, Baldrick, the gorgeous George, Captain Darling and General Sir Anthony Cecil Hogmanay Melchett VC KCB all in starring roles.
Taking place in the trenches of WWI Blackadder is of course trying his best to avoid going over the top and almost succeeds. Along the way there are many one liners and a series of running gags to keep the laughs coming.
A great night was enjoyed by all.

Thanks to all who helped out at Armistice last weekend – it was memorable!
This week it’s our Garden Festival - Sunday 18 November. Don’t sleep in if you have the first shift!
FindIt directory, pick up your bundle and map from Shaw Wire Ropes, Victoria Road, Saturday 24 November from 8.30am. Please pick up promptly so the team don’t have to wait around all day. If you can’t be there on time please arrange for someone else to do it or tell Ted Mason or one of the team. Please deliver promptly, but not in the rain. This year’s cover promotes our Taste Waikato book and sales before Christmas are the most important (and easiest).
Sunday December 3 – Christmas Parade. Dennis Finn will be asking for volunteers to help marshal this event over the next two weeks.
Bookarama – Books are now being taken at Achievement House. We are not actively seeking donations of books until the new year but if you need to deposit books there you can.
RYE Student, Laura from Brasil. We have an offer from someone to be her Counsellor and an offer for the first term next year. We still need at least an offer for term two (April till June/July) before we can consider accepting her. There is a lot of support from the club to accept a new student but it can only happen with your help in finding another three host families.
Don’t forget that Jan Bilton is looking for volunteers to sell Taste Waikato at the Tamahere Market on December 15.
Christmas Hams have been offered by Kevin Monks for many years, those who want to order this year should go direct to Cambridge Home Kills on 07 823 4206. The Pork Marketing company that Kevin runs has supplied the legs of Pork to them to produce their hams so they are NZ sourced and produced. I don't know what he is charging for them this year.
