This is a project centred upon collecting and recycling metals based products so they are diverted away from landfills. It is a new 
service which Rotary will be providing for our local community and follows extensive research over more than a year. The project is fully endorsed by the Waipa District Council.Our initial focus will be upon collecting e-waste (products which operate using electricity or batteries) up to the size of a desktop computer or television, household batteries and electrical wiring.
We will have a strong focus on recycling these products ethically and in an environmentally sound manner, and as a result will require a small charge from the people we collect these items from.
We are currently starting to prepare our facility and we hope to have our first collection during March of this year. Other collections will follow with a view to providing a regular collection service for the town in due course.
