What a great night was had by the large number of Rotarians, partners and guests at the Christmas Party on Thursday. Despite the late afternoon deluge, Ian and Liz had everything set up perfectly to protect us from any possible further wet weather. The tables were festive, the food delicious and plentiful and we were treated to a gift each from Santa who arrived in grand style. Added to that President Robyn hosted an “Oscars” Award session causing much hilarity.
Outbound exchange student, Zara Newman was presented with her jacket. We wish her well as she travels overseas for what will be an amazing experience. We look forward to hearing from her during the year and of course a presentation when she returns. Safe travels Zara.
A huge thank you to Ian and Liz for hosting the Christmas event and ensuring we had such an enjoyable evening. Thanks also to those who helped plan and set up. We were very impressed with Roger Gordon’s parking direction skills 😊.
This will be the last bulletin until next year as the team - editor Maurice Marshment and reporter Bev Maul-Rogers will be taking a few weeks off. Watch out for a brief bulletin prior to the bowls night on 22 January. We wish you all a happy, relaxed and safe Christmas, New Year and holiday season with family and friends.
First Rotary meeting after Christmas/New Year recess
Don’t forget :
Wednesday, 22 January – Bowls night
Thursday 30 January – first Rotary Club meeting which will be formal
Taste Waikato - the perfect Christmas present for family, friends or work mates. Only $25 each! Buy some for yourselves or sell them to people you know. We really need to focus on all selling these fabulous cookbooks to shift as many as possible as it is an ongoing fundraiser. So far Jan Bilton and her team have raised $39,000 - a fantastic contribution to our funds to give back to our community! Please get in behind this and sell at least one book each member by Christmas!
A note from President Robyn:
My husband and I .....would like to wish you and your families a very merry Christmas and safe travels for the holiday season. Thank you for all your hard work this year with Rotary. We look forward to seeing you all at the bowls night on 23 January or our first meeting on 30 January.
Best wishes
Robyn and Chris Crickett
