THIS WEEK'S NOTICES

Bulletin notes - Club meeting 6/06/19

Welcome

President Ray extended a welcome, particularly to guest speakers Ollie Underwood and Kim Murrell of Hill Laboratories who attended the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards week and were sponsored by Rotary Cambridge. Also welcomed was Deb Robinson who is the Secretary of RYLA and visitor Silvio Ribeiro.

Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) – attendees Ollie Underwood and Kim Murrell

Bill Robinson in his introduction mentioned that 22 clubs from District 9930 contributed to RYLA this year with Rotary Cambridge sponsoring three attendees from Hill Laboratories – Ollie, Kim and Manie Senekall who unfortunately was unable to be present due to travelling.  The Club could be congratulated for hosting three attendees.

Ollie and Kim gave a very informative and interesting presentation on the week which included seminars and activities.  There were 33 attendees and each day saw new challenges and opportunities for participants to display their skills and bring benefits to the teams they were put into. Many of the activities stretched their abilities and put them outside of their comfort zone, but the various strengths, behaviours and attributes of team members each brought achievement to the teams. At the Final Awards evening each team made a 10-15 minute presentation on an aspect of the week.  These presentations showed how far the participants had come as a group as well as individuals and what had been achieved.

Both Ollie and Kim thanked the club for sponsoring this opportunity and said that they gained valuable skills and knowledge in terms of leadership that they could take back to their respective teams at Hill Laboratories.

Coach - Uri in thanking the club for providing a fundraising opportunity he explained the objectives and activities of Special Olympics Waikato which allows people with certain disabilities to play sport.  He said they are always looking for help – not only sports focussed – to help those with special needs to live life better. They meet every Sunday.

Rotary Branded Clothing

The club is looking to collate together a bulk order from Rotary Down Under in Melbourne for members wishing to purchase Rotary Branded Clothing.  The Board has also decided to include the name Cambridge on the branding as well.  (This incurs an additional $10 cost).

The items selected from the RDU website are shown below, with the cost to our members, i.e. the Cambridge branding included.

Please advise Roger Hill by email (roger.hill@hill-labs.co.nz) of which items you require and the size.  A clipboard with these options is also being passed around on club night.

Roster

Please take note of the Duty Roster and be in good time for your duties.

NOTE The Duty "Magic Moment" is: A short comment referencing something in our community, or within Rotary which you find inspiring, encouraging or adding to the joy and pleasure of life. It should be an uplifting story that takes no more than two minutes to deliver. Ideally it will be something from the last week or so, something others may not yet have heard about.
